The Society of St. Vincent De Paul
St. Dominic’s SVP Conference, began in 1980 in the garage of our church.
With a few members, we began serving needy families in the area, and those referred to us.
Like St. Vincent De Paul, and Blessed Frederick Ozanam, our goal is to help our neighbour with the basic necessities of food, clothing, shelter, friendship and emotional support while assisting them in realizing their full potential. This may be through job placement and /or self-employment.
Today, through the help of our parishioners and other support groups, we serve 28 families, with approximately 46 children.
We raise funds through our yearly Parish Family Dinner held at St. Dominic’s Church, and we have a Christmas Appeal.
Recreation and getting together with families includes our yearly picnic, usually held at a place of interest. We also host a Christmas party on the church grounds.
